The Guardian’s obituary for Desmond Tutu blatantly omitted any mention of his totally committed support for the rights of Palestinians, and insistence on calling Israeli apartheid by its name. It then compounded its mis-step by swiftly taking down almost all the comments posted up by readers protesting this omission. After intervention by the PSC and others, The Guardian has now printed an excellent article by Chris McGreal on Tutu’s support for Palestine and has restored the deleted posts. PSC will be seeking a meeting with The Guardian to seek assurances that there will be no repetition of this censorship of news about Palestine.
