Public pressure has forced Mira Awad, a Palestinian singer from inside
Israel, to cancel her scheduled performance in London sponsored by the
Zionist Federation to celebrate Israel’s “independence.”
Awad published a letter today in Al-Ittihad, the newspaper of the
Israeli Communist Party, saying that she would “never” perform
for Israel’s “independence,” not in London nor anywhere else.
